That same month, attackers poisoned 75 Trivy GitHub Actions tags — stealing CI secrets by harvesting environment variables from runner processes. Credentials passed as env vars are trivially exfiltrated. Forgitry injects secrets via OpenBao at runtime: they never appear as environment variables, and expire when the job ends.
